Portrait of Teddy
Today I started work on a new portrait study, Teddy, at the Southern Atelier. So far I have spent about 2 hours on the blocking-in step. One of my goals is to get faster with this step. The other goal is to see the subject in shapes. My homework is a 30-day challenge where I create a 5 minute block-in each day in my sketch book.
As much as I would like to take a picture of Teddy to work on the painting at home I'm trying to get into the habit of working from life. The next time I'll be working on this portrait is next Thursday.
In this portrait I am drawing with the paint brusth rather than drawing on drawing paper first then transferring it onto canvas. I'm starting to prefer this method better because it helps me to work faster and learn a different skill.
